A CHANCE TO WORK: Michigan Youth Corps

30 minutes. Documentary about the nationally acclaimed Michigan summer youth employment program. Produced for WTVS in Detroit and broadcast nationally on PBS.  1983



 A HEART TO HEART PARTNERSHIP

15 min. In the late 40's and early 50's, General Motors loaned engineers to work with doctors at Detroit's Harper Hospital to help develop a mechanical heart. This partnership produced the GMR-Dodrill Mechanical Heart Pump resulting in the first successful open heart surgery in the world which was performed at Harper Hospital in 1952.  2006

One-hour television special co-produced with WXYZ-TV and broadcast in primetime, statewide. Reached over 1,000,000 viewers and was highest rated program in its time-slot. Videos are in national distribution.  1993

Streaming video on the Alzheimer's website designed for caregivers. Various experts answer questions that are frequently asked by caregivers. Provides valuable information, tips and resources for caregivers to better help themselves as well as the Alzheimer's person they are caring for.

BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
17 minutes. A video documentary detailing Life Directions, Inc., an organization that offers educational alternatives and emotional support to urban students who are "at risk." Shown to schools and educators in an effort to build awareness.  1988

13 minutes. Corporate responsibility and child care. Showcases Michigan companies which have demonstrated significant child-care initiatives.



THE CLEVELAND MIDDLE SCHOOL: SPECIAL
20 minutes. Produced for the Detroit Public Schools about a troubled middle school that turned itself around. Used throughout the national educational network, at conferences, workshops, etc. PBS  1979



CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL
5 minutes. A video essay told with few words and a powerful original music score, showing the importance of preserving our fragile world. Produced in cooperation with Ford Motor Company.  2000

GENERATION TO GENERATION: Jewish Families Talk About Death
35 minutes. This film addresses Jewish traditions surrounding death and provides the knowledge and tools needed in the event of a crisis. Personal stories told by young children and their parents confirm the need for open and honest dialogue. Enriching the story are comments from nationally-known funeral director and author, David Techner, Rabbi Irwin Groner, a respected voice and commentator on the value of tradition in a modern world, and grief therapist Rozanne Friedman. IF YOU DO DRUGS, YOU WON'T DO FOR US
13 minutes. For the Michigan Dept. of Education, to warn high school students that drug testing is a pre-requisite for job employment with many companies. Also, to inform students how drug tests are performed. Shown to high school students throughout Michigan.  1993



IT ALL ADDS UP

29 Min. An up-beat documentary about the Math Corps, where every summer, 400 inner- city Detroit middle and high school kids attend a six-week math camp on the campus of Wayne State University. Test scores and graduation rates are soaring - must be seen to be believed!  2008



KADIMA: From Shadows To Sunlight
10 minutes. A video which showcases a unique approach to treating people with a mental illness. It highlights the group homes established for them and the programs available to assist their families.  1996



KIDSPACE
25 minutes. Documents how - against all odds - a quality on-site child care center was developed in the historic Wayne County Government Building in downtown Detroit. Of particular interest is the fact that two top county executives, both men, were primarily responsible for developing KidSpace and making it available to all working parents in Wayne County, one of the largest counties in the United States. THE NEW NORMAL: Life After Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant46 minutes. A film that gives stem cell transplant patients hope through information. Six transplant survivors and their caregivers, explain what it's like to be in the fight for your life and to win. A leading physician and a bone marrow nurse/ coordinator provide important medical information; but the most important words come from various individuals who have had successful bone marrow transplants as they talk about their lives then and now and what to expect during and after treatment.  Funded by General Motors for the National Bone Marrow Transplant LINK.  2001

A pilot website designed for middle school girls to motivate them to learn about the many careers which use math, science and technology. We produced streaming video profiles of women in interesting careers.  Produced for the Michigan Women's Foundation with funding from SBC/Ameritech.  2000

24 minutes. Explains the Michigan Partnership for New Education, a public/private/university partnership working toward educational reform, based at Michigan State University.  1992



WATERMARK
47 minutes. What does it take to win? A portrait of five competitive swimmers, two female and three male, who trained with the same coach since childhood. They all dream of making the US Olympic team - or at the very least - being good enough to try. Will they realize their dreams?  PBS, WDIV  1996
